Roughhousing

We love to roughhouse. Usually it's Daddy and the kids doing it, but occasionally Mommy will get in on the action too.

The Melia - Cabo Real, Mexico

For Spring Break we headed down to Mexico, from SJC to SJD. We spent the week at the Melia resort in Cabo, playing at the pool and on the beach. We had three other families in our group, plus Grandma & Grandpa Musicer and Aunt Lori came for a few days too. The kids loved all of the water activities, eating to their hearts content (lots of fruity drinks and ice cream!) and playing with their friends. In the evenings we watched shows, smacked pinatas, and hung out near the fire pit. One day we went into Cabo and took a glass bottom boat ride which was a lot of fun. One evening the "girls" went out for a night on the town. One night the "boys" hung out in the lobby and played cards.

Spring Program

With songs and fingerplays, Eric's kindergarten class performed in their Spring Program.

Preschool Fun

Talia continued to have fun throughout the school year. She played and explored in so many different ways. In these few shots it shows that she really enjoyed holding and watching snails, playing with shaving cream and listening to stories during circle time (couldn't resist this one).

PA Jr. Museum and Zoo

With Talia's preschool, we went to the Palo Alto Jr. Museum and Zoo on a field trip. We had a fun time with all of the hands-on exhibits and visiting the animals. We got to hear a special talk about one of the birds they have there and played at the park afterwards.

Cambria

The first weekend of April we rented a house in Cambria with our friends. We spent the mellow weekend hanging out, walking down near the beach, going to the park, playing games and cooking meals. Before heading home, we stopped to see the beached elephant seals who were molting.

Art Show

Eric's work was on display at his school's art show at the end of March. In addition to the artwork, there were all sorts of activities to do. The kids decorated tiles, frosted cookies and sculpted with playdoh. Talia painted a stone to make a magnet and got her face painted. Eric entered a drawing and was the lucky winner of a basket full of art supplies!

Holi

In honor of Holi, Talia decorated herself while at preschool.

Lovin' these March pics

Eric's Writing

Just a little sampling of 5 year-old Eric's writing and inner brain workings.

Eric's First T-ball Game

Eric's first Little League game was on March 5. He's on the Phillies.

Ski Week in February

We had such a great time in the snow...and at the casino! On our way to Reno we stopped in Truckee for some off-the-side-of-the-road snow play. Jason & Talia built a small snowman and Eric went "snow swimming." We all clomped around in the deeeep snow, where no one had walked before us, so it often came up to our knees. Then continued on to our hotel/casino in Reno for a couple days where we bowled, played in the arcade and climbing area, watched Jason virtual golf and ran into one of Eric's preschool-summer school friends. We returned to the Truckee area and spent the day at Soda Springs where the kids had a blast snow tubing and climbing snow mountains. We decided to cut our trip short by a day since a major storm was moving in, and headed out of town in the snow, with chains on the car.

Duplos

With a little help, Talia built this castle.

Hidden Villa

We visited a farm with Talia's preschool class. Although Talia was a little apprehensive about the animals, she enjoyed watching them from afar and really loved being in the garden. She had a good time tasting different plants, walking through the paths and learning about compost.

Science Fair

For weeks before the actual Science Fair, Eric worked on his project - Water vs. Wax. He tested whether or not metal objects covered with car wax would rust less than metal objects not covered with wax. We were so proud of him!

Off to a princess party...

Actually, this was Talia after the party. She had fun hanging out with her princess pals and getting all decorated with makeup and glitter.

Tio Adam & Tia Carla visit

At the beginning of February, Tio Adam & Tia Carla came out to visit and we had a great time with them. We hung out at home, as well as visited Oak Meadow Park and Nickel City with them. The kids loved having the extra attention and wished they could have stayed longer.

Talia at preschool

Talia does so many things at preschool. On any given day she might ride a scooter, play with baby dolls, slide down the slide, create art, swing from a rope, stamp on a paper or make muffins. It's always an adventure...

Talia's Show Week

Finishing off another session of her Little Gym classes, Talia had her show week in January. She demonstrated all sorts of skills she had learned during the semester. We all got to join her in the gym and Eric had fun being a "visitor."

Family Love

Sharing the love in January.

Cal Sports Center

With her preschool class, Talia visited a children's gymnasium in mid-January. She had tons of fun swinging from the rings, climbing through tunnels, bouncing on trampolines and playing with her friends. Afterwards, we went to a nearby park.

Jason's Birthday

We spent Jason's birthday at home this year. With dinner, cake and friends to help celebrate.

New Year's Eve

During the day on the 31st, we went to the Discovery Museum and got to check out the Bob the Builder Exhibit. It's always tons of fun for the kids and there are so many great photo ops, it's hard to choose the best shots to post here. At night, we went back downtown and ate dinner at Gordon Biersch, walked through Christmas in the Park and watched the ice skaters (for the second year in a row). Afterwards, we came home, got ready for bed and watched the countdown on TV with a little bubbly to celebrate!
